Not Applying Heat Protectant

It’s no secret that heat is damaging to our hair. However, many of us aren’t as vigilant as we should be in our use of heat protectant. I’ll admit that I use it sometimes but not as faithfully as I should. It’s just a step that seems easy to forget. But it’s truly one of the most important hair products to put on your hair so it’s worth getting in the habit of using.

2

Not Drying in Sections

Drying your hair in sections will give you the best results. Yes, it takes a bit of time to section your hair off but it’ll give you the most professional looking blow out. Once you get in the hang of drying your hair this way, you’ll wonder how you ever did it before. Drying your hair almost seems to go more quickly when you section it since you’re concentrating solely on one section at a time rather than trying to dry it all at once. Sectioning clips can be found at almost every drugstore and are only a couple of dollars.

3

Not Using the Concentrator

Know that oddly shaped contraption that came with your hair dryer? That’s a concentrator and it’s important. I’m telling you this because I haven’t always known what it was or how it was used, either. After you attach it to your dryer, it helps you to focus the air flow in the exact direction you want it. After you start using it, you’ll wonder how you ever went without it.

4

Not Directing the Air Flow

The concentrator is very helpful at directing the air flow. But it takes more than that to make sure you’re drying your hair the way you intend to. Don’t just randomly shake your dryer back and forth. Focus the air flow where you want it to go. You’re the boss of your hair appliance!

5

Not Using a round Brush

Another way to make sure you get the blowout you’re dreaming of is to use a round brush. Roll the ends of your hair around the round brush to hold it in place and gently curve the ends, if that’s an effect you want. This’s a technique that can take some practice to master. Don’t give up if you don’t get it at first. Another way to help control your hair during a blowout is to simply use your fingertips to help control and curve the hair in the direction you want it to go.

Not Drying Your Hair Completely

You know how sometimes you think your hair is dry but then later discover it really isn’t? That’s beyond frustrating! I hate when that happens! But it’s really important to go back and dry any damp spots you find. Your hair needs to be completely dry before you use any styling tools on it or it could easily be damaged.

Not Using Products to Set Your Blowout

You don’t want all your hard work to go to waste! Set your blowout with the right products to keep your hair in it’s beautiful state. Yes hairspray is good but so is a setting spray. Serums can be the perfect product to add a bit of gloss and shine. The trick with serum is to only use a tiny amount and distribute it evenly.

These’re some blunders to avoid making during a blowout. What part of a blowout is most difficult for you? For me, it’s being patient with the process!
