I adore seeing celebrities wearing braids. Braids are a look almost anyone can pull off with ease, so seeing a star rocking braids gives me hope I can recreate the look. You can dress braids up or dress them down and either way, they are going to look fabulous. Each of these celebrities wearing braids pulled them off magnificently, but we still want to know who you believe wore the hairstyle best!
1 Elizabeth Olsen
One of my favorite celebrities wearing braids is Elizabeth Olsen. The younger sister to the famous twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, wore a stylish side braid to a pre-Golden Globes Party in 2012. The star wore a floral and black cut out gown from the Proenza Schouler Spring 2012 collection. Elizabeth Olsen looked gorgeous and showed us that she is just as much of a style icon as her older siblings.

Elizabeth has always had a flair for subtle yet impactful fashion statements. With her natural beauty complimented by the classic braid, she made a strong case for effortless red carpet elegance. Her hairstyle choice not only paid homage to a timeless trend but also added a touch of whimsy to her sophisticated look. Her presence at the event was a testament to her ability to carry intricate designs with grace and poise, highlighting that braids are not just for casual outings but can be elevated for the most glamorous of occasions.
Frequently asked questions
2 Amanda Seyfried
Amanda Seyfried wore a messy side fishtail braid to the premiere of her 2010 movie, Letters to Juliet. She wore the braid with a short black dress with textured blue and white embellishments. She coordinated her eye shadow with her gown and donned a red lip stain. Needless to say, the star looked gorgeous and I’m still trying to learn to fishtail braid just so I can try out her hairstyle!
3 Kim Kardashian
The always-fashionable Kim Kardashian wore braids to the 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards. Kim left her signature locks down. At first glance, it even appears it’s Kim’s classic look. However, on closer examination, the presence of small braids throughout her locks becomes noticeable. I love this subtle way to wear braids. The small braids throughout her hair and beachy waves make the perfect hairstyle for summer. Kim wore a short, white, ruffled gown with a tan waist belt to the awards show. Her shoes, bag, and makeup were also tan to coordinate with her belt.
4 Rihanna
Rihanna was a vision at the 2011 Met Gala. The Barbadian singer wore a one-shouldered lacy Stella McCartney gown to the event. The only thing more stunning than her designer dress that evening was her long red braid. The braid was the perfect hairstyle for her sexy gown.
5 Emma Watson
Emma Watson wore a braided up-do for the premiere of the 2013 movie, The Bling Ring. Emma wore a chic Chanel dress to the premiere of the film. In order to show off the collar of the dress, Emma kept her hair up in the most fashionable braided up-do of all time. I have a feeling this hairstyle will be worn to weddings for years to come.
6 Jennifer Morrison
Jennifer Morrison (you probably know her best for her role as Emma Swan on the show Once Upon a Time) wore a darling ponytail braid to the Disney Winter Press Tour in 2012. The front side of her hair was braided back into a ponytail. The ponytail holder was wrapped with her own hair while the hair in the ponytail had a slight curl. It was the best hairstyle choice to show off the high neckline on her red dress.
7 Rachel McAdams
The ever-elegant Rachel McAdams looked absolutely stunning at the red carpet for the premiere of the 2009 movie, Sherlock Holmes. The star looked like a Grecian queen in her grey Andrew Gn dress. The best part of her look was without a doubt her hair. The actress swept her hair back in a gorgeous side braid. Even though pieces of hair were sticking out from the braid, the hairstyle looked far from messy. I am still in love with this Rachel McAdams look 5 years later.
These are some of my favorite celebrity braided hairstyles. I always love seeing a celebrity wearing braids. Which of the stars on this list did you think pulled the look off best? Tell us in the comments section!
