8 Hair Tips for Spring ...

Starting this little article on hair tips for spring, I have to say that it is very important that you take care of your tresses. After all, you hair is one of your most identifying marks. Your hair says a lot about you. Don’t you want others to know that you care about yourself and take care of yourself? If so, use these hair tips for spring to get your hair looking fine as we bring in the warm weather!

1 Vinegar Washing

One of my latest discoveries, and therefore something making its way to the top of my list of hair tips for spring, is vinegar wash! I had some fears of using vinegar on my hair, even though I read a lot of good things about it. I was afraid it would smell bad, and would just make it super dry. I learned that this isn’t the case at all! Mix 1 part vinegar (apple cider smells better but white vinegar works just as well) and 1 part water. After shampooing your hair and rinsing, slowly pour the vinegar mixture all over your hair, making sure to get all your hair and scalp well covered. Allow to set for several minutes, then rinse. You don’t even have to follow up with conditioner if you don’t want to, but it won’t hurt anything if you do. By doing this once a week (and only once) it will strip all of the old product out of your hair, making it lighter and more manageable. If you don’t use a lot of product, you may only want to do this once every other week or only one time a month. After doing this to my hair, I found that it felt lighter, almost as if I had just gotten a haircut! There was a true clean feeling! After my hair dried completely, there wasn’t even a smell of vinegar! I definitely recommend this!

Frequently asked questions

2 Flyaway Help

Spring brings many good things like warmer weather, beautiful buds and blooms and the promise of summer, but it has its problem-causing friends as well. Humidity and windy days are not friends of ladies with their hair all fixed up for a date night! If your hair is prone to flyaways, here is a little tip for you: after you have fixed your hair, take a tissue that has been folded a couple times and spritz it with some hair spray. Then, tame your flyaways by gently rubbing the hairspray tissue over them! Nifty, huh? I suggest carrying a travel size bottle of hair spray and some extra tissues in your purse, should you have some pop up in the middle of a date.

3 Frizz Fixer

Frizz can be a terrible thing to have to deal with when humidity shows up. While using heat products like a flat iron can work okay, it can harm your hair as well. If you would rather keep your hair healthy, just look for hair gels or mousse that contains polymers or copolymers in it. This ingredient helps to tame your hair by coating it and can help fight the humidity as well. Read the labels!

4 Go Light

Nothing screams "Come on, summer!" like some lighter hair! How about some hinting highlights? I love the idea of gradually getting lighter in color the closer you get to summertime, don’t you?

5 Wear a Flower

Neicy Nash is known for her flowers in her hair, and personally, I think it is quite charming. Spring brings blooms and color, so why not bring a little of that into your hair? Nothing complements and updo like a darling flower tucked into it! If you're single, the flower goes on the right side, but if you're happily taken, wear it on the left.

6 Moisturize

I do love a good conditioner! Out of any beauty/hair care product, I think conditioners would make it in my top five must-haves! Show yourself some love by conditioning reall,y really well. I have several conditioners and hair masks in my collection that I regularly use and love. Want to hear what they are? (Good, because I was going to tell you anyway!) My favorites are "It's a 10" hair mask, Mane & Tail conditioner, Fruitopia Acai Berry conditioner, John Frieda Luxurious Volume conditioner (it really works!), L'Oreal Power Moisture Rush mask, and finally, Moroccan Argan Oil moisturizing treatment. I have a weakness for conditioners, yes, because I can not stand to have dry hair! Have you ever tried any of these? Do you have any other conditioners that you love and would like to share with me? Please leave me a comment!

7 Sponge Hair

Face it, we all know that heat isn't good on our hair but we sure love to have curls! I know it's a bit "old fashioned" and maybe even a tiny bit (not much at all) uncomfortable, but since it's warming up and you don't have to worry about getting sick with a wet head, why not consider curling your hair with sponge rollers before bed once in a while? There is no heat needed and you will have lovely locks in the morning! Have you ever used sponge rollers before?

8 Learn to Braid

Braids can be beautiful hair artwork! If you are not already a braid expert, take up learning how to make all those different braids, like the waterfall braid, the fishtail braid, the milkmaid braid, and of course, the ever popular French braid. Once you have mastered one or all of these, it will be time to show off your talent when summer comes, because that's when braids become so incredibly wonderful! Braids are perfect for keeping your hair cute and away from your face and neck with the heat turns up!

So there you have it. My hair tips for spring are nothing fancy or little known, just some things I love to do to or for my hair in the spring. Of course, these can all be done no matter what season we are in, so don't let that stop you! What is your favorite hair tip for spring? Do you have anything to add? I would love to hear from you, so comment below! Have a fabulous day, stalkers!
