The Cut

The Cut When looking at ways to get beach waves, start with your hair cut. Believe it or not, the right hair cut can make all the different when it comes to achieving those stylish beach waves. Long layers are best for promoting natural looking waves, so get your hairdresser to give you some next time you go in for a cut.

2

Salt Spray

Salt Spray Salt spray is often used by those wanting to recreate that just-been-to-the-beach look at home. Store bought salt sprays can help bring out the natural wave in your hair as well as add volume and texture, which is key to getting that wavy beach hair look. Just remember that salt sprays can dry out your hair, so use them sparingly or in conjunction with a moisturising conditioner or serum.

3

Twists

Twists Create the effect of beach hair with a few twists and turns. Start by twisting your hair into sections and then securing them into buns. Leave them for a while (you could even try overnight if they don’t annoy you too much) to let them set. Undo and loosen the buns and lightly comb through with your fingers. You should be left with some tousled beach waves. Two to four low buns should be enough to create that wavy effect.

4

Braids

Braids Braids are another method you could use to fake your way to beach hair. Start with wet hair and then towel dry it. Don’t let it dry completely as it still needs to be damp for the next step. Next, braid your hair in either one or two braids. You can let your hair dry naturally or if you’re pressed for time, you can always use a hairdryer. Once your hair is dry, loosen the braids and comb your fingers through your hair.

5

Curling Irons

Curling Irons You can also achieve beachy waves with the help of a curling iron. This method works especially well if you’re after more defined curls. Use bigger barreled curling irons for looser waves and smaller barrels for tighter waves. Simply wrap sections of hair around the curling iron, leave for a few seconds, release, and repeat. Comb your fingers through if you want a more tousled effect.

Scrunch It

Scrunch It If you have naturally wavy hair to begin with (lucky you!) then create some extra definition by scrunching your hair. Apply some styling product to your hands and then lightly scrunch your hair where you want to promote waves. A bit of scrunching here and there will help get that wavy hair thing happening.

7

Add Texture

Add Texture If your hair is naturally thin or straight, then getting those big voluminous beach waves can be a bit tricky. You might need the help of some texturising or volumising sprays. Texturising and volumising sprays can help promote the appearance of wavy hair as well as keeping them in place once they’re there.

These are just a few tips and tricks to help you on your way to gorgeous wavy beach hair. Different things will work for different hair types so it pays to experiment to find out what works best for you. Do you have any other tried and tested tips for wavy hair without having to go to the beach?

Thanks for the tips

My hair is naturally pretty curly and I always do French twists (found on YouTube) overnight. It never leaves my hair all shrunken up like buns do! And #6, scrunching promotes frizz so be cautious!

This really helps thanks !!
