8 Sleek and Elegant Hairstyles ...

Elegant Hairstyles are, in my opinion, one of the best hairstyles out there and learning how to make a couple of them isn’t only fun but extremely useful as well! I mean, imagine going somewhere and not being able to find a hair stylist in times when you need it most! What are you supposed to do in that case – Cry? No, hun, crying is for babies and we women,,, well – aren’t we known for our amazing ability to find a way out of every tricky situation? And if that means elegant hairstyles, than elegant hairstyles it is! And, here’s 8 of those fab, not to mention very easy to do, styles you could do anywhere and anytime:

1. Classic Bun

(Your reaction) Thank you!

When J.Lo is having a bad hair day and she really needs to shine on the red carpet, you’ll often see her sporting this simplest of all elegant hairstyles! The fact that it’s extremely easy to do doesn’t mean it’s plain or boring! It’s the other way around actually, as it really brings out the eyes and simply calls out for those glam, huge earrings you’ve been dying to show off! But here’s what you need to do in order to make a perfect bun:

Step 1: Comb your hair and pick it up into a tight high ponytail. Don’t tie it yet as you’ll need to apply hairspray and comb again in order to make sure there are no loose strands or so-called antennas.

Step 2: You’ll need a bun sponge in your hair color! Bun sponge looks like a doughnut and you can get it in various beauty supply shops, in pretty much all sizes. Once you have your bun doughnut, all you need to do is take your ponytail, pull it through the hole and fix the sponge using a few bobby pins.

Step 3: Section your ponytail and use those sections to cover the sponge making sure the ends are tucked in under it! Use bobby pins to secure every section and then apply more hairspray and, of course, hair shine!

2. Modern Bun

(Your reaction) Thank you!

A modern bun is one of my favorite hairstyles as it’s even easier to do, doesn’t require a sponge and looks great! Seriously ladies, this one is an eye-catcher and here what you have to do:
Step 1: Make a tight high ponytail as described above.
Step 2: Section your ponytail into three sections.
Step 3: Comb every section and apply a LOT of hairspray. Then take each section, twist it into a loose roll and secure the ends with 2 bobby pins (each). The rolls shouldn’t blend into each other so once you’re finished making each roll, spray it with more hairspray. The end result is a very artistic looking three piece bun everybody will notice!

3. Straight and Sexy

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Sleek, completely straight hair is one of the most popular elegant hairstyles and since there’s nothing more to it than just straightening, you can do it when you don’t have enough time to experiment. Do have in mind that hair- straighteners can damage the hair so it would be best to save this style for special occasions. Now, if you’ve never straightened your hair before, here’s how to do it right:

Step 1: Section a few bottom layers on the back and around your face. Use a hairclip to keep the rest of your hair out of the way.

Step 2: Spray the layer you’re about to straighten with your favorite kind of heat protection fluid, releasing more and more layers until everything is nice and straight!

Step 3: Now it’s time for your hairdryer to do it’s magic! It does sound funny but I’ve realized cold air kind of “seals” the hair, making it harder to frizz later. So use the “Cold” setting, and keep the hairdryer slightly above your hair so it would blow down (use a brush and comb down if needed).

Step 4: Apply just a little bit of hairspray (Nivea is great because it doesn’t make the hair sticky, smells great and adds shine as well).

4. French Braid Band

(Your reaction) Thank you!

If your hair is already straight and you’d like to try a hairstyle that’s not complicated and lets you show off that gorgeous hair too, why not shake things up a bit by doing a French braid that looks like a hair band? Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Section your bags (from ear to ear, the section two to three fingers thick).

Step 2: Pull the rest of the hair back and start making a French braid. You don’t have to hurry as it really needs to look perfect. Add hairspray or gel in case your bangs are layered and once you’ve managed to make a braid that starts at one ear and ends at the other, secure it with a small silicone band and tuck it under your hair, behind the eat (use bobby pins to make it stays there). Brush the rest of your hair, add shine and voila!

5. Glam Side Sweep

(Your reaction) Thank you!

If your hair is neither straight nor curly but something in between and you’re constantly trying to flatten those semi-curls that are creating volume in places where you don’t want it, try a classy, shiny side sweep! This glam hairstyle is ideal for your hair type as it really brings out those waves, making them feminine rather than untamed. So, here we go again:

Step 1: Tease the hair on the crown gently, spray it with a very light hold hair spray and then gently brush back.

Step 2: Sweep your hair to the side, add gel (or any kind of hairstyling product that works best for you) starting from the middle and down to tame and shape those waves.

Step 3: Secure one end using very small but strong bobby pins and leave the other side to fall naturally. Now all you have to do is add some more hairspray and you’re ready to roll!

6. Knotted Ponytail

(Your reaction) Thank you!

In case this afore mentioned style seems too elegant for you but you’re interested in elegant hairstyles that could help you get the most of your natural hair, try a less classy but equally sleek and sexy knotted ponytail. And here’s how:
Step 1: Add volume to the crown as described above.
Step 2: Section your hair to the side, then sweep it in a low pony tail. Wrap a thicker section around the hair band to make it look like a knot, secure it with a small bobby pin. Add plenty of shine spray, comb the ponytail lightly to reshape those curls then spray some more shine!

7. Old Hollywood Glamour

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Some elegant hairstyles are always fashionable and those interesting sleek retro waves are definitely one of them! You know what I’m talking about and believe it or not, all you need to create this fabulous hairstyle is a double barrel iron (which you can even borrow in case you don’t have it and don’t feel like spending money on it). If you have long hair and strapless evening dress is your outfit of choice, this hairstyle will definitely make you the star of the evening. But, let me explain just how easy to make it actually is:

Step 1: I got two words for you -Volume mousse (or spray)! You’ll need it and a lot of it! So apply this product from the roots down, section your hair on the side and then into pieces (Width of each section depends on your iron) and start ironing (or maybe waving is the correct term?) one by one. Ask someone to help you with the sections on the back because this style looks best if the sections kind of blend in like a puzzle once they are all done.

Step 2: Apply hairspray and gloss and finish the look by adding a shiny hairpin.

8. Princess

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Slightly poufy crown looks wonderful when combined with soft, shiny curls so, if your hair is long or medium, do try this last of my elegant hairstyles suggestions! It’s very simple and looks just WOW and you’ll need bobby pins, hairspray, heat protection liquid, gloss and a regular curling iron.

Step 1: Section your bangs(from ear to ear) and pin them together so they don’t get on your way. Tease the rest of your crown, add hairspray, brush back gently and secure with enough bobby pins. Now brush your bangs back as well pining them over the teased section (This makes the crown look more polished and shinier.

Step 2: Brush the bottom part of the hair, apply heat protector and section. Curl the sections gently, add hairspray while they are still hot and add gloss once you’re all finished! So simple!

Aren’t these elegant hairstyles just a piece of cake? I mean, just think about it – amazing results in just 10 to 30 minutes and you don’t have to spend a single cent on a hairdresser! Do you often wear elegant hairstyles, girls, and which one of these would you try out soon?
