Hair care resolutions should definitely find their place on your list of things you need to be doing better at next year! After all, what good are fancy clothes and nice make up if something as basic as hair isn’t as good as it can be, or as good as you deserve? But, hey, why not go all the way this year and make a hair care resolution all on its own? Sounds interesting? Well, here are some things you should definitely consider writing down...
Table of contents:
- damage control will be my top priority
- i won’t skip my appointments
- i won’t let myself get lazy
- new year – new style
- i will try something new
- i will learn something new
- i will take a proactive approach
1 Damage Control Will Be My Top Priority
This is one of the best and the most important hair care resolutions a girl can make! And it doesn’t even have to involve ditching heat! Well… not completely, at least! What you want to do, however, is make sure your hair is always well protected and well taken care of which includes everything from a heat protector and SPF product to deep conditioning and nutrition. Wear a hat to protect your hair from extreme temperatures, use both commercial products and DIY concoctions to keep it healthy, protected and maybe even reverse some of the damage that’s already been done. Don’t forget to revise your styling and grooming habits as well, keeping a lookout on those that may lead to serious hair damage and finding adequate, non-damaging replacements.
2 I Won’t Skip My Appointments
Split ends? Forget about those! Overgrown layers? Throw those out the door as well! All you need is a good hairstylist and enough will power to resist the temptation to skip an appointment or two and you’re already riding the express train to Greathairville! Freshly cut hair (even if it’s just a teeny-tiny cut) looks, feels and actually is much healthier so chop even if you’re trying to grow it out. Sounds ridiculous, I know, but it really works! Furthermore, frequent touch-ups done by a person who can understand your needs and give you exactly what you want won’t only help you look amazing and well groomed all the time, but aid your hair-growth efforts as well.
3 I Won’t Let Myself Get Lazy
There are tons of ways in which you can get lazy with your hair, each deserving its own chapter in your hair care resolution for this year. But hey, it’s supposed to be a short, motivating list, which is why we’d better group all of our “sins,” promising ourselves not to repeat them in next year! Don’t get lazy when it comes to trying out new stuff or following up with your well-versed, fool-proof hair care habits. It’s like exercise actually – coaxing yourself into getting your behind off the couch is the hardest part! And what better way to do so than a little black-on-white promise you can’t just shove in the back on your mind!
4 New Year – New Style
Are you stuck in the rut? In case the rational part of your mind is telling you that you really need a change, definitely add this point to your new year’s resolution! Getting rid of your security blanket is going to be hard, so brace yourself and don’t let the fears and insecurities get the best of you. And whether we’re talking about a new hair color, new hair care regimen or a new cut, you can rest assured the end result will be so worth it!
5 I Will Try Something New
A new, great product, a new DIY recipe, a new heatless styling method – your new year’s resolution should include at least one live-learn-improve point! After all, you can’t hope to find a really great product, really great style or get a step closer to a truly flawless hair care routine without experimenting a bit…or a lot! Easier said than done, of course, especially when you have a lot of things going on and absolutely no time, energy, focus or cash to “waste”…which is exactly why a reminder of all of the good things that may arise out of it might not be such a bad idea after all!
6 I Will Learn Something New
Curiosity might have done it for the cat…and doesn’t that make you feel glad for being a homo-sapiens! Seriously, ladies, the whole “knowledge is power” thing does make a lot of sense and all that extra hair-related knowledge is bound to pay off both sooner and later! No tip is ever unnecessary, no advise is ever too weird to take into account – I’ve discovered that many times and learned a bunch of interesting stuff that helped me take care of my hair much better! Still learning, though, and loving every bit of it!
7 I Will Take a Proactive Approach
Yes, you will! And that means you won’t only do your best to repair damage that’s already been done but try to reduce the risk of any further or greater damage as well. Proactive approach is the key to healthy, great-looking hair and this next year is the perfect time to start paying a bit more attention to what you’re doing to your hair as well as the long term effects of your actions.
Which hair care-related points are you going to include in your new year’s resolution for 2019? Are you going to try to be more creative, less frugal or finally start thinking about the damage excessive use of heated styling tools can cause?
