I’m never happy with my hair so I’m always trying all of the DIY healthy hair recipes I can find! When I was younger my hair was a giant frizz ball because I had no idea how to take care of curly hair. As I got older I learned to experiment with various hair products, but I’ve found that the things I like the most are the healthy hair recipes I find online. Most of them only require a few ingredients that I usually have around my house anyway, but even if I have to buy a few things it ends up costing less than the products you would buy at the salon. Give a few of these a try!
I would say this is my favorite of the healthy hair recipes that I have tried. It only calls for stuff I have in my kitchen already and it makes my hair look infinitely healthier than it usually does. Try it out; it will work wonders on your luscious locks!

The malt and hops found in beer are incredibly good for your hair. They will leave your hair feeling a lot softer and less prone to tangling. The Apple Cider Vinegar is added to help wash away all the product build up coating your hair. The two of them combined will leave your hair looking amazing!
Ingredients:
¼ Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Cup Beer
Directions:
Mix the two together.
Wash hair as usual.
Pour the mixture over your hair, rubbing it in as best you can.
Let it sit for 5 minutes then rinse with warm water.

Okay, not quite guacamole, but close enough for me! Avocado has some wonderfully replenishing and moisturizing properties that give you smooth, sexy hair. It is a great deep conditioner and costs a fraction of what you would pay for a deep conditioning at the salon. You really can’t beat this amazing hair mask.
Ingredients:
1 Avocado
1 Tsp Olive Oil
Directions:
Mash the avocado in a bowl.
Add the olive oil and blend them together well.
Apply liberally to damp hair.
Cover your hair with a shower cap and let it sit for 20 minutes.
Rinse and wash hair as usual.

If you have oily hair it can be exceptionally hard to find something that fights the oil all day long. I know that it can be frustrating to wash your hair in the morning, and by the time you get home from work, you look like you haven’t showered in a week. Ugh! Don’t worry though, this awesome hair recipe will squelch that oil!
Ingredients:
5 Tbsp Plain Yogurt
1 Tbsp Baking Soda
1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
Directions:
Mix yogurt, baking soda and lemon juice together.
Apply to hair especially thoroughly at the roots.
Let it sit on your hair for 30-40 minutes then rinse.
*Do not use more than once per week*

I love bananas, they are definitely one of my top 3 favorite fruits, but did you know they work wonders for your hair? That’s right, bananas leave your hair shiny, soft and much more manageable and healthy looking! I only recently came across this recipe and I was super surprised by what it did to my usually frizzy and uncontrollable hair!
Ingredients:
2 bananas
1 egg white
2 tablespoons natural yogurt
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons honey
Directions:
Mash the two bananas as much as you possibly can, you don’t want chunks getting stuck in your hair.
Whisk your egg whites in a separate bowl.
Add the other ingredients, followed by the egg whites to the bananas and mix.
Wash your hair as normal, then work the mixture into your hair thoroughly.
Put on a shower cap and let it sit for 30 minutes or so.
Rinse the mixture out of your hair and use a fine tooth comb to ensure there are no hidden banana bits lingering in your locks.
Use a small amount of shampoo to lightly wash your hair, then rinse.

Summer sun and heat tend to leave hair dry, brittle and broken, but there is a wonderful fix for this. I know it sounds gross, so bear with me. Mayonnaise. Yep, that’s right, mayonnaise is the cure-all for chlorine dried, straw-like hair! The idea of spreading the stuff on my head left me feeling a bit disgusted, but I tried it anyway and I was SO glad that I did! It’s a bit of a pain to get out of your hair (3 shampoos) but it is absolutely worth it!
Ingredients:
Mayonnaise
Honey
Directions:
For medium length hair you need a half cup of mayo, use less for short hair and more for long hair.
For every ½ cup of mayo you use you need 2 Tbsp of honey.
Mix the two together.
Apply to dry hair.
Allow the mixture to sit on your head for a full hour (or wrap it in a hot damp towel and leave it for 30 minutes).
Rinse your hair.
Shampoo and rinse repeatedly until the mayonnaise is out of your hair.
Do NOT condition.

If you have curly hair, this is a great homemade recipe for you. It's all natural and will help keep your hair curly without using harsh chemicals that may be in some hair gel products.
Ingredients:
2 Tbsp whole flax seeds
1 C. water
Aloe vera gel (optional)
Essential oil (optional)
Directions:
Boil the water and then dump the flax seeds into it. Stir constantly, allow the flax seeds to boil until a gel consistency starts to occur. DO NOT OVER COOK. Strain the gel from the flax seeds using a fine-mesh sieve. Place in a squeeze or pump bottle, and add about a quarter of as much aloe vera gel as you have flax seed gel. Add up to 4 drops of your favorite essential oil. Shake well. Use as you would any hair gel.
