7 Edgy Haircuts to Rock This Year ...

By Madison14 Comments

There are many edgy haircuts to try out this year. If you are bored with the same old look you were sporting in 2013, why not consider something new and totally out there in 2014? These styles aren’t for the timid as you’re sure to be drawing attention to yourself in these edgy haircuts.

1 Shaved Side

One of my favorite edgy haircuts is the shaved side. While this has been a popular trend for a while now, it increases in popularity each year. Rihanna has been rocking a shaved side for years and now other celebrities, such as Demi Lovato are joining in on the trend. So if you are looking for an edgy, yet stylish haircut for 2014, consider the shaved side.

Frequently asked questions

2 Asymmetrical

If you aren’t exactly ready to shave off your locks, another edgy style to consider is an asymmetrical haircut. This style looks great whether your hair is long or short. You can make the shorter side drastically shorter or just subtly shorter depending on your personal style. I love how cute and versatile this haircut can be. Even Jessie J has tried out this rockin’ look!

Asymmetrical haircuts are an edgy style that can be tailored to fit any personal style. The shorter side can be drastically shorter or just subtly shorter, depending on the desired look. This style looks great on both long and short hair, and is versatile enough to be worn in a variety of ways. Celebrities like Jessie J have been seen sporting the look, proving that it can be both fashionable and fun. Asymmetrical haircuts are a great way to add a bit of edge to any look, and can be adapted to fit any face shape.

3 Faux Hawk

A faux hawk is another great edgy haircut to try out this year. Celebrities such as P!nk and Miley Cyrus have been spotted with the look. Although you typically see a faux hawk with short locks, it looks amazing on longer hair too.

4 Mohawk

So if you want more drama than just a faux hawk, why not go for an all out mohawk? Typically when we think of mohawks we imagine the punk haircut. While I love this type style of ‘hawk, there are other ways to rock a mohawk! You can make them high fashion by styling them with more texture than just spiking it straight up. And if you aren’t ready to shave off sides of your head (and if you are good at braiding) you can simply braid the hair on the sides of your head to complete the look without actually cutting a single strand of hair!

5 Mullet

Okay so you probably weren’t expecting to see the “business in the front, party in the back” haircut showing up on this list – but that’s what makes it edgy. I know what you’re thinking – she can’t be serious – but Rihanna has shown us that the look can be stylish. Would you wear this 90's trend?

6 Blunt Bangs

One of the simplest ways to add a little edge to your style is to cut some blunt bangs. If you don’t typically wear bangs, you will love how dramatic you’ll feel with the new style. Straight across bangs can really bring out your eyes and add a definite edgy vibe. Jessie J and Lady Gaga are both big fans of the blunt bang hair cut.

7 Shaved

Having no hair can sometimes be the edgiest hair cut of all. If you’re really looking for an edgy style this year, try donning Amber Rose’s signature ‘do. If I had the right bone structure, I think I’d give this style a try, if only for the time I would save getting ready. What is your take on the shaved head trend?
