1. Get It Trimmed

Get It Trimmed Getting a trim when you are growing out your hair can feel counter-productive, but it is actually an important step in the things to do for long and healthy hair. When you do not have your hair trimmed regularly, you start to develop split ends. They can keep right on splitting and really affect the health of your hair. They are a big contributor to hair breakage, as well.

2. Take a Hair and Nail Vitamin

Take a Hair and Nail Vitamin A vitamin that promotes hair health can really make a big difference in how fast your hair grows and the overall health of it. Biotin is also something you can take for your hair health and growth. I take 1000 mcg of Biotin a day and I can tell that my hair has grown a lot faster since I started taking it. A lot of people have had great results by trying a supplement like this. Of course, you should never take any supplement without checking with your doctor first.

Frequently asked questions

3. Eat Well

Eat Well What you eat is going to show in your hair. It sounds crazy but it really is true. If you eat a ton of junk, expect your hair to show it. If you eat healthy, your hair is going to be healthier. It takes all kinds of vitamins and nutrients to have healthy hair. Getting enough protein is important to your hair growth and strength, too.

4. Massage Your Scalp

Massage Your Scalp Experts say that if you massage your scalp it will help your hair to grow. They say that it increases circulation and that helps to stimulate growth. I typically will do this when I go to bed at night. It is relaxing and helps me to fall asleep quicker, too. My hair is growing faster since I started using all of these little tricks.

5. Be Careful with Your Hair

Be Careful with Your Hair You cannot expect to have good hair if you treat it roughly. It is not going to look healthy if you jerk as you comb and put accessories in that are too tight. Treating your hair roughly does not affect the growth but it does affect the quality of your hair. If your hair gets to be in bad shape, then you have to have it cut and that certainly affects the growth of your hair. It is best to be careful with your hair in how you comb, brush and style it.

6. Buy the Good Stuff

Buy the Good Stuff If you can, buy quality products for your hair. This includes shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner and other hair products that you use. There are a lot of decent drugstore products available if you cannot afford salon products. I have had especially good luck with Dove hair products. If possible, splurge for the salon products.

7. Be Patient

Be Patient Another component of growing your hair out long and getting it healthy is to just have patience. Being patient while it grows is the hardest part of all. Your hair will probably go through some awkward stages where you will be tempted to cut it but you just have to wait it out. It takes time but these good habits will pay off. Soon you will have long, healthy, beautiful hair if you stay the course.

Growing your hair out is a process and these steps should help make that a little easier. What advice has worked for you when you were growing your hair out? I would love to hear your best tips!

Will biotin cause hair to grow in unwanted places as well?

No biotin won't make hair grow in unwanted places. Well it didn't for me & a lot of other people. Try Hairfinity. Check out their Instagram. I've used it & it works

what are the best tips for damaged hair because of the hair straightener?

This is so relevant right now. I'm growing out a pixie. I'm two months in and have also been treating my hair for bleach damage. Being patient. Olive oil and a book for an hour. Wide tooth combs. Not too much shampooing. No sulfates. Lots of conditioning. Coconut oil and a book for an hour. Making gorgeous scarves and hair bands to keep it out of the way but not too many styles. No heat. Wash out colours that don't have anything but condoning and colouring. More patience. Keep it happy. Sleep. Biotin. Exercise. :)

I've been trying to grow my hair out for like 4 years. It's apparent that my hair will never be long.

Good tips to try! I'm trying to grow my hair out!

i suggest the natural herbs for safer hair growth

I'm currently in school to be a cosmetologist and I'm half way through the program. I do know to help your hair grow you do want to trim your hair every six weeks, DO NOT bleach it at all (this is unhealthy for your hair anyway). Don't use any hot tools. I have natural curly hair and it's hard to stay away from my straightener but so far I have. I also know that if you use Coconut Oil it helps also. You can also do a hot oil treatment because it opens up the cuticle. You can also do a conditioning treatment and sit under a dryer because that also opens up the cuticle.
