If you have fine hair like I do, you are fully aware of what a pain it can be. Mine is so wispy that it’s hard to get it to stay up in a braid or bun and it’s so thin that when I do braid it, it sort of looks pathetic. You aren’t doomed to these problems for life though because there are some easy DIY masks that you can use to pump your hair full of volume and help it look a bit thicker and more lustrous. I’m going to try them all!
This is a really easy mask to whip up and chances are you might even have the ingredients in your kitchen right now. When you apply this mask, you load each strand with ingredients that make it thicker and stronger.
¼ cup coconut oil
15 drops rosemary essential oil
Combine all of the ingredients and apply to wet or dry hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap and wait 20 minutes. Rinse with cool water, then shampoo.
If you have fine hair, you know how hard it is to get enough volume to look good. This mask should help take care of that problem each time you use it.
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ cup flat beer
Whisk together the ingredients and apply to clean, damp hair. Wait 20 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.
One of the problems with fine hair is that it looks lifeless pretty easily. Because you don’t have enough strands to soak up the natural oils in your mane, you could wind up with lank hair even if you wash every day. This mask helps counteract those issues and perks your hair right up.
1 egg white, beaten until foamy
¼ cup plain yogurt
¼ cup mayo
Stir together the yogurt and mayo. Add the beaten egg white and fold well to combine. Massage the mask into damp hair, wait 20 minutes, then rinse with cool water.
Even if you have fine hair, dryness can occur. This will only make your hair look brittle and damaged so you definitely want to make sure your hair is regularly hydrated. This mask will do the trick while also plumping strands and increasing volume.
Combine the banana and egg and drizzle in a bit of the olive oil. Apply the mask to your hair, letting it sit for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing.
This mask has a few more ingredients than some of the others, but when they’re combined, great things happen to your fine hair. Not only do you hydrate each strand, but you also boost volume, making your hair look fuller and thicker.
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 teaspoon castor oil
1 teaspoon argan oil
Mix together the ingredients in the order listed. Apply the mask to damp hair, working from the roots to the tips. Wait 30 minutes, then wash and condition your hair.
Sometimes the best things happen when you use simple remedies. This mask is super easy to do and will help thicken your strands.
2 teaspoons baking soda
Shampoo of your choice
Add the baking soda to your shampoo and wash as normal.
Here’s a mask that you probably have the ingredients for already. It’s super easy to mix up and will do wonders for your fine hair. You’re going to love it!
1 tablespoon honey
Puree the banana in a blender until very smooth. Add the honey and mix well. Massage the mask into your hair and wait 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse, then shampoo as usual.
