1. Make a Hair Mask with Bananas, Honey and Olive Oil

Hair masks are wonderful for your hair; they can strengthen, repair and smooth all at one time. This hair mask is great at knocking frizz back. It sounds complicated to make but it’s really not. Combine a banana, ¼ cup olive oil and 2 tablespoons of honey. Coat your hair and allow it to work 20-30 minutes. Rinse out and proceed with your day.

2. Try a Mixture of Eggs and Coconut Oil

This is another hair mask option. You combine an egg with a spoonful of coconut oil. If you have long or super thick hair then you may need to double the recipe in order to have enough to adequately cover your hair. Leave it on for up 20-30 minutes and wash out well. Your hair will not only be free of frizz but have an incredible shine.

Frequently asked questions

3. Try Olive Oil in Place of a Hot Oil Treatment

Hot oil treatments can be fab when it comes to cutting frizz. But why pay for them when you can make your own at home? Olive oil has been used to combat hair issues for years. Simply heat up a few spoonfuls to ¼ cup of olive oil until it’s warm but not overly hot. Apply to your hair, wrap in a damp towel and let it do its job. When you rinse it out, your hair will be smooth and silky.

4. Wash Your Hair in Rain Water

This is a trick your mothers and grandmothers may have used. Catch a bucket or bowl of clean rain water and heat to a comfortable temperature. Wash your hair as usual, using the rain water in place of regular water. You can also opt to just use rain water as your final rinse. This softens your hair so much that you’ll be positively amazed!

5. Try a Beer Rinse

Women have been using beer to deal with frizzy hair for decades. It’s a simple solution and easy enough to do. After washing your hair, rinse it with beer then immediately rinse it again with water. Beer makes your hair look beautiful but you don’t want to smell like a brewery so the final rinse is necessary. Don’t worry; you won’t rinse all the benefits away.

6. Trade Your Towel in for an Old T-shirt

Did you know that your towel could be the culprit behind your frizzy hair? If frizzy hair is a daily battle for you then it’s very possible it’s what you’re drying your hair with that’s causing the problem. Trade your towel in for an old, soft t-shirt and you’ll notice an immediate difference. You may look a little funny drying your hair with a t-shirt versus a towel but who cares? When you’re getting compliments on your gorgeously smooth hair, only you’ll know your secret.

7. Cool Water after a Regular Shampoo

Getting your frizzy hair under control could be a simple as dialing back the hot water a bit when you rinse. You don’t have to use completely cold water but taking the temperature back to lukewarm or cool can give you great results. Cool water closes the cuticle of your hair which equals shiny hair. This tip costs you absolutely nothing to try. You may have a momentary shiver but you’ll also have luxurious, shiny hair.

These are 7 home remedies to make frizz a thing of the past. Which ones do you plan to try? I’d love to hear from you!
