1. Baby Powder
If you don’t have dry shampoo on hand, baby powder is the next best thing. It works just as good as dry shampoo, and you always have it at home. However, if you have darker hair, you may want to stick with dry shampoo. Though it works wonders for getting rid of greasy hair, the white powder can get a little streaky very fast.
2. Use Dry Shampoo the Night before
One of my favorite tips is using dry shampoo the night before a day that I know I won’t have time to shampoo. It keeps greasy hair at bay, and it only requires a little bit of touch-up in the morning. It’s the perfect trick to save time during busy mornings!

3. Try a New Routine
If you have the time to dedicate to a new routine, and can go a few days with greasy hair, this trick is the right one for you. Try a new routine. Try to switch to every other day between shampooing rather than every single day, or every two days instead of every other day. Adding an extra day without shampooing to your routine will be a little bit of a struggle at first, but the payoff is worth it!
4. Aloe Vera
When most people think of aloe vera, they think of sunburns. You’d be surprised to know that aloe vera also strips your hair of grease, even on your greasiest days. It’s a more natural alternative to shampoo, plus it will make your hair feel so much better than shampoo does!
5. Change Your Diet
I’m sure you remember the old wives’ tale about not eating greasy food to combat acne and greasy skin. Unsurprisingly, the same can be said for greasy hair. Changing your diet to food that feeds and helps your body rather than contributes to greasy skin and hair is such a simple way to combat greasy hair!

6. Use a Tea Bag
If you’re in a real pinch during a busy morning and can’t find your baby powder, reach for the tea bag from your morning tea. Run it through greasy patches and it will soak up the grease in no time. It’s amazing that something that’s already a part of your daily routine can help eliminate grease, but you’d be surprised just how much it can help out!
7. Condition the Ends Only
If you have consistently greasy hair, you may need to change how you’re conditioning your hair. If you have greasy hair and condition your roots, try conditioning only the ends instead. If your hair is greasy, you don’t need the extra moisture that conditioner leaves you with!
What are your tips for getting rid of greasy hair? My go-to tip is dry shampoo and baby powder, but I’m always looking for new tips for the days I’m in a hurry, so let me know what you do in the comments!
