Fabulous Ways for Natural Hair Girls to AvoidBad Hair Days ...

Cassandra Sep 17, 2016

When I decided to go natural five years ago, I thought πŸ’ I would say goodbye to bad hair πŸ’‡ days forever. Now that I didn't have to worry about getting caught in the rain β˜” and could just wake up and rock my twist out, the time πŸ•– I spent on my hair in the mornings would drastically be cut in half, right?

Girls, oh how I was wrong. Sometimes, it seems like having natural hair takes a lot more time, money πŸ’² and effort. If you're like me, you either follow many natural hair blogs or spend most of your time watching YouTube tutorials.

Trying to look like you woke up like this is stressful AF. Whether you're short on time πŸ•ž or have a big event coming up, these tips and tricks will make you look like the boss naturalista you are πŸ‘ŒπŸ’™ .

1. Set up a Schedule πŸ“† to Deep Condition Your Hair

Whether you're transitioning from a perm or have been natural for years, deep conditioning your hair is really important. It will moisturize your hair and prevent breakage down the line. I usually deep condition my hair every two weeks but I know people who do it weekly.

2. Comb out Your Hair πŸ’‡ While It's Still Wet

Because my hair is really thick, combing it out while I'm washing 🚿 it is the best way to get rid of tangles. I've also noticed that it reduces shrinkage, which is always a plus! You can also use detangling shampoo and conditioner

3. Coconut Oil is the Holy Grail πŸ‘πŸ’

Coconut oil stops a bad hair day BEFORE it happens. Seriously, it helps your hair stay hydrated and gets rid of flakes. It also rejuvenates damaged hair. You can apply it to your scalp and hair before or after washing 🚿 it. Full 🈡 disclosure: I may not have hot sauce in my bag like BeyoncΓ© but I do always have coconut oil πŸ˜‰.

4. Never Underestimate the Power of a Good Twist out πŸ‘Š

Girls, this is the golden rule. I have really thick and curly hair, which is why my go-to hairstyle is a twist out or braid out. I usually just divide my hair into two quick french braids, add coconut oil and let it set as I sleep. That way I can just wake up and be ready to go!

Embrace your individuality and transform your look by trying out a unique shade. Did you know that green hair is associated with nature, creativity, and growth? So go ahead, experiment with this bold hair color to represent a new phase in your life, waiting to blossom like a fresh spring leaf.

5. Give Your Hair a Break from That Blow Dryer πŸ“’

If your hair is more prone to breakage, avoid using a blow dryer πŸ“’ to dry your hair. Instead, separate your hair into box braids and let it dry naturally. Here's an added bonus: When you comb it out later, your curl pattern will be more defined.

6. Turn Heads with a Braided Look πŸ’‹

When I'm pressed for time, my go-to look is french braids with a beat face. They're super low maintenance and can be dressed up or down. Honestly, I have a short attention span with the patience to match so I can't always be bothered trying out an overly complicated style.

7. Hair Care Starts from the Bottom up πŸ‘‡πŸ‘† AKA Your Pillowcase

Rest your head on a silk or satin pillowcase like the queen πŸ‘‘πŸ‘Έ you are. This will prevent your hair from drying out as you sleep, especially if you're like me and you often forget to wrap your hair at night.

How do you keep your gorgeous hair looking bomb?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Coconut oil is crap for my hair!! When I stopped using it my hair flourished... BIG TIME and my ends were no longer dry and brittle.

@Kylie make sure if you wash it you use shampoo that is good for your hair. & try cowashing.

But my hair falls when i comb my hair when they are wet

My hair needs washed daily. Oil takes over my skin and hair
