By Eliza

Summer is the best time of the year, but it can also wreak havoc on your hair. The dry air, the humidity, the ocean, the swimming pool…whatever it is for you, the summer is great for time outdoors and lazy days in the sun, but that doesn’t mean your strands love it as much as you do. Luckily, there are loads of easy things you can do to keep your tresses in place and in shape all summer long. Here are the best of the best.

Buy Yourself a Really Cute Headband and Wear It Every Day

Headbands are trendy these days, which is lucky for you because they are a great way to tame your hair and keep it in place. A well-placed headband holds frizzy hair away from your face so it looks polished. You can also roll your hair up and over the headband (think the fashionable 1920s look) so you look put together while also keeping your hair looking fabulous, no matter the weather is doing outside.

2

Forget Stick Straight Hair and Let Your Waves and Curls Shine

I like the way my hair looks when it’s straight, but summertime is the perfect chance to embrace some texture. When it’s humid outside, you can pretty much kiss straight hair goodbye, no matter how hard you try. Wear your hair in braids when you sleep to encourage polished and put together waves. If you have naturally curly hair, let those curls shine all summer long. You’ll love the low maintenance style!

3

Apply Leave in Conditioner after an Evening Shower and Let It Soak in While You Sleep

Leave in conditioner is a miraculous product that can tame frizz and help keep your hair from going crazy on you when the weather heats up. It can also preserve your color treated hair and prevent damage during the summer. Apply it after a shower and comb the product through well to distribute it evenly. Then all you have to do is air dry your hair and you’re good to go.

4

Put on Hair Oil before a Workout, then Tie It up in a Bun While You Exercise

This magical idea will leave your hair looking soft and shiny without much effort. Simply apply your favorite hot oil treatment just before you head out for a run or just before you hop on the elliptical at the gym. Twist your hair into a bun. The heat from your body during exercise will activate the oil. When you get home, wash and go.

5

Use Lip Balm on Your Lips and the Tiny Hairs around Your Face

Lip balm is great for keeping chapped lips at bay during the hot summer months, but that’s not the only thing it’s good for. You can use a small dab of lip balm on those small baby hairs around your head to keep them tamed. Simply spread a bit and smooth the area with your fingers. Easy, right?

Invest in a Beach Hair Product like Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray

Love the way your hair looks after a day at the beach? The salty water and spray really gives your hair definition and perfect looking waves. You can copy that look with surf spray products that are sold at just about any drugstore. They’ll recreate the beach conditions so you can look like you just walked in off the sand anytime you want to.

Give up and Wear Your Hair Back – It Looks Awesome

This is my go-to tip when my hair isn’t behaving. There are tons of cute ways to wear your hair back so you don’t have to worry that you’ll look messy or frumpy. How about an adorable high ponytail or a cute side braid. You’ll look polished without having to worry about your hair doing naughty things.

How do you keep your hair looking fabulous in the summertime? Which of these tips are you going to try?

Best tips I've heard yet 😍

Great tips Thankyou

In a different article I literally just read on here "don't go to bed with wet hair"

I just west my hair back at most times in the summer much easier.

I have really long hair & I can only wash it every 4 days or it starts to get brittle, gets major split ends, the hair shafts break anywhere along the strand, & just plain won't do anything I want it to do.

Baby hairs are hard to tame. The hair oil idea, is a tip I will try.

The only thing I can do then is head for the hairdresser to get my hair cut & treated ... as well as get chewed out by my hairdresser for mistreating my hair ... AGAIN!!!

Just got it all wacked off. That's my best summer hair secret!!!

I have to have it in a ponytail if it is fresh washed that day &, if I'm really lucky, I can do a fancy ponytail (pull my hair back as though I am going to put it into a ponytail but instead I twist the ponytail until it naturally twists up on itself, then I put an alligator clap around the bottom of the twisted hair to let the remainder of the loose hair fall over the clip. The following two days I have it in a braid.

About the beach waves, you can make an easier version not those products with sea salt and water in a squirt bottle.
