1. You Brush Your Hair after You Wash It

According to top hair care experts, your hair is at its weakest when it’s wet, making it the worst time to brush. I’m not saying you shouldn’t brush your hair, but you need to start doing it before you wash instead of after. If you must detangle after you wash, use your fingers or a wide-toothed comb instead of your brush.

2. You Wear Your Hair Pulled Back Tightly Every Day

If you sweep back every single chunk of hair from your face, it can age you. Surprised? Apparently, a pulled back style showcases your fine lines and wrinkles. Experts say that you should let some hair fall around your face to soften the look because a pulled back ponytail or top knot can also make you look younger if you do it this way instead.

3. You’re Still Sporting Your High School Cut

Yes, it looked drop dead gorgeous while you were roaming the halls of your alma mater. But, it might not be working so well these days. Hair trends change – you know that! But, your face fills out and you get a more mature look as you get older and your hair style should complement it. Talk to your stylist about the best cut and style for your face shape and lifestyle. You’ll be so glad you did!

4. You Wash Your Hair Every Single Day

Unless you sweat heavily or something gross gets in your hair, you probably don’t need to wash it every day. In fact, hair experts say that you can easily go at least one day between washes and some people can actually go two or three. Too much washing strips the natural oils from your hair, which leaves it dull and lifeless. Simply rinse and use a lightweight conditioner each day and that’s all you need.

5. You Vigorously Towel Dry Your Hair

Yes, you need a towel to dry your hair, but rubbing it too hard can break and damage your strands, leaving you with damaged, frizzy hair. Instead, you should gently blot your strands with the towel, then allow your hair to air dry. It will take longer, but the gorgeous head of hair you’ll get in exchange is totally worth it.

6. You Spray Your Hair before Curling or Straightening

When you spritz your hair with product before heat styling, you probably hear that telltale sizzle. This is basically your hair being fried. There’s no reason why you have to apply hair spray before. Instead style as you like, then apply product. You’ll get a softer look that is much healthier.

7. You Tease Your Hair Every Single Day

Hair that has volume looks great, but teasing it on a daily basis is terrible for it. Regular teasing breaks your hair and damages every strand. Save this technique for special occasions and try using root lifting spray or other volumizing products instead. You’ll love how much healthier your hair is this way.

Which of these mistakes are you making? I’ve made them all so don’t feel bad! How are you going to make changes for the better?

Ive never made any of theres mistakes but what has really shocked me with my hair is that i died my hair so many times and its still smooth, heathy, And amazimg😍

Heat protectant is a MUST

It's crazy how many of these mistakes I make all the time!

I don't get the "sizzle" anytime I straighten or curl my hair anyway

So why do they call them heat sprays then, not convinced by that one

im always hearing brushing your hair when wet is bad, i always say im going to use a comb and never do, must start!!!

Heat protects and hair spray are different products. Heat protection goes on anytime you use heat, so damp hair if blow dryer is about to be used and dry hair when a curling or flat iron is going to be used. Hair spray is to keep the style in place.

@Dennalll if you're going to use a heat spray (heat protectant) on dry hair, you spray it, and wait for it to dry and be completely absorbed by your hair before you actually straighten or curl your hair. That way you don't get that "sizzle" the author was talking about :)

The "wet" brush is formulated for being gentle on wet locks. I have super long tangled hair when wet. It's a lifesaver, along, with a leave in conditioner heat protectant

What about heat protection? Heat protecting sprays are supposed to be put BEFORE you straighten or curl. That's the whole point!
