1. Avocado & Olive Oil

I actually love this hair mask. Not only does it get rid of your split ends, but it'll leave your hair super soft and totally natural! All you need is half of a ripe avocado and 2 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil. You can double the recipe for really long or really thick hair. Put it in a bowl and mix it up really well! You want the consistency to be creamy! Take the bowl in the shower with you and shampoo your hair really well – then apply the mask. Cover it with a shower cap and leave it on your hair from 5 minutes to 30, it all depends on what you want. After that, condition normally and you'll see just how beautiful your hair is afterwards! This is one of the greatest and most natural ways to get rid of split ends!

2. Hair Cut

Getting a hair cut is one of the surefire ways that you can get rid of split ends! Not only does snipping those ends off completely get rid of them, but it'll leave your hair shaft in much better condition! I've gotten a hair cut recently and I love my hair now!

Frequently asked questions

3. Coconut Oil

Recently, coconut oil has been all over the news and social media sites everywhere, just because it has so many awesome benefits, but did you know that you can use this amazing oil as a way to get rid of your split ends? Just using it in its raw form (which means you won't have to heat it up) on the ends of your hair will seal up those dead ends!

4. Honey

Using honey is another natural way that you can rid your hair of split ends! What I have done is actually put a bit of honey in a squeeze bottle and I keep it in the shower. I then use the hot water to heat up the honey and I put it on my hair. No mess and it leaves my hair super soft and split-end free!

5. Jojoba Oil

You might have thought that jojoba oil was just for your skin, but this amazing oil can be used to keep your hair super soft and totally split-end free too! Just using a bit of the oil on the ends of your hair and leaving it on for about 20 minutes, or even all night, will leave your hair amazing!

6. Papaya & Yogurt

I absolutely love this particular hair mask! Not only is it super easy to make, but it's amazing on any hair! All you do is take one raw papaya, remove all of the seeds and the skin and then put it into a blender to make it into a pulp. Then, you add half a cup of yogurt and apply the paste to your hair and scalp! After that, cover your hair with a shower cap for about a half hour and then rinse with warm water! You can shampoo after that if you want.

7. Olive Oil, Milk, Sugar & Egg Mixture

Sounds like a great recipe, right? Well, this is actually an amazing hair mask! All you do is mix up all of the ingredients (use egg yolk, not the egg whites) and put it onto your hair for about 15 minutes. Then rinse and shampoo/condition as normal. This really helps!

I know it seems weird to put milk, sugar, yogurt and papaya on your hair, but these are all awesome ways to get rid of your split ends! Do you have any more hair masks to share? Give 'em up!

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Hi I would like to know if any of these tips from this article can actually be helpful for African American Woman?

Definitely will try these!!

do these actually work? and how often should i do a deep hair mask?

Thnx a lot this is really gonna help me

I'm a cosmetologist and I also teach cosmetology at a hairschool. I feel obligated to say that it is IMPOSSIBLE to "get rid" or "mend" split ends. The only way to really get rid of them is to cut them off. Once the hair has split it is split. You can do these masks to help strengthen your split ends to slow down the splitting and attempt to slick them down, but you cannot heal them.

How long would you recommend keeping the honey in for?

It feels that this article just read my mind
