7 Ways to Hide Roots and Greys between Dye Jobs ...

By Rosalina

I don't know about you, but I was visited in my late teens by the Grey Haired Fairy who sprinkled her silver hair inducing fairy dust on my locks, meaning I was swiftly searching for ways to hide roots and greys between dye jobs. Dyeing my hair is something I am used to now, but there are some simple ways to hide roots between dye jobs which I have learnt along the way. Roots and regrowth can make people very self conscious. When mine start peeping through, I naturally assume that I'm walking around with a neon arrow directly above me screaming, "Look at the greys on this!" That's obviously ridiculous, as people have far more important things to worry about than my regrowth, but finding ways to hide your roots can make you feel less self conscious and much more relaxed around others.

Dry Shampoo

We all know that dry shampoo is a real saviour when it comes to refreshing your locks between washes. Bumble and Bumble makes a great dry shampoo that comes in different shades, including brown, blonde, white and black, so it's also a saviour when it comes to refreshing your hair colour between dyes and will help you hide away those greys and roots. However, your pillow will be discolored when your head hits it at slumber time, so be sure to lay a towel down to protect it or be prepared to stick it in the wash in the morning. This is one of the ways to hide roots between dyes.

Hair Make-up

Lipstick and mascara for the hair, whatever will be next? Well, there are some fabulous products which you can buy to mask the greys and roots. These simple wash-out coloring sticks and wands are cheap and cheerful and will save you heaps between professional or DIY dye jobs. You can buy spray-on root concealers too. Another tip involves using something which is probably sitting in your make-up drawer right now. If you're a brunette, apply regular brown eye shadow to your roots to blend them in. Trust me, this works a treat and will save you money.

3

Head Scarves

How about a beautiful head scarf to hide the greys? There are so many hair accessories you can buy to strategically place so that you can disguise roots and greys. It's a great way to be adventurous and decorate your hair in the process.

4

Gel It

Gel will darken the hair and help disguise the roots and greys too. Try smoothing your hair back with some gel to help blend the colors together and use a headband to conceal the roots.

5

Strategic Styling

Some strategic styling is something that can always help disguise the greys too. Give your hair some body by blow drying some waves into it. Change your parting or draw the attention away from the areas that have the most visible regrowth. Hair pieces can also work; they can be costly but will probably save you money in the long run.

Famous Quotes

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

Hats are another way to take advantage of head accessories. And like we needed any more excuses to adorn ourselves with the wonderful array of hats and head gear out there! Be a little more adventurous and find a couple of hats for when you don't feel like touching up your roots with make-up or you really can't be bothered to style your hair. They're a bad-hair and root regrowth saviour!

Highlighting

Speak to your hairdresser about the fact that you're not a millionaire and can't afford to keep touching up your roots every two weeks. Highlights are a simple way to help blend and disguise the roots when they eventually start peeping through and will help delay the color touch up process.

There are some simple ways to boost your hair color by using a color-boosting shampoo and conditioner. Also, think about using hair sunscreen to protect the color and reduce the fade. Does anyone have any hints and tips for dealing with roots between dyes?
