7 Secrets for Pulling off Hair Extensions ...

Hair extensions are crazy popular right now, and there are all kinds, including clips you can put in yourself. What stops most girls from doing it is the fear that the extensions won't look at all believable. I can totally understand that because, frankly, I've felt that way myself. As it turns out, however, there are a lot of secrets for pulling off hair extensions, so that no one but you will ever know you're wearing them!

1. Try Tousles

If you curl your natural hair to give yourself some body, you can easily get your extensions to blend in with your real hair. In fact, this is one of the best secrets for pulling off hair extensions. Naturally, you have to make sure the extensions are wavy as well, but the real key is to finger comb them once you get them in, to make them mix in with your natural hair.

2. Done Bun Can't Be Undone

For the record, I don't know what that means. I read it in a Stephen King book. Anyway! Buns! As long as your hair extensions have gone in under your crown, you can easily pull off this look. The key is to make it a messy bun, rather than a sleek one. There's a trick for that to, I'm sure, but if you want to go from the tousled look above to this one, you best make it messy.

3. Half and Half

Here's another secret for pulling off hair extensions that involves a bun. What you do is pull your real hair into a loose bun right at the back of your head. You can make some of the tendrils frame your face and neck if you want. Then the extensions go in – or, rather, you can get an already-made ponytail extension, which goes on top of – yep, on top of, not below – the natural bun. Talk about volume!

4. High up Ponytail

This look is actually really easy to pull off, especially since there are so many ponytail hair pieces. All you have to do is pull your natural hair into as much of a pony as you can manage, high up on your crown. You may need a lot of gel and/or hairspray to make it stick. Then, your faux ponytail gets clipped on – and no one will be any the wiser!

5. Hairy Headbands

These always look surprisingly natural, and there are so many of them. Actually, you can get hair pieces and braids that will go around a ponytail, or you can get actual headbands. They make a really elegant, original look, and while I could never create one with my hair, using a hair piece looks surprisingly natural.

6. Beautiful Braids

This is a great secret for pulling off hair extensions, for all those girls like me who wish their hair was long enough to braid. They have ready made braids now, at surprisingly affordable prices. However, you can also still braid your own hair, if your extensions are long enough; either way, both looks are completely natural.

7. Sassy and Straight

Finally, there are plenty of ways to wear your hair straight and sleek when you've incorporated hair extensions. All you have to do is slip your clips in under the crown of your hair. As long as you have a little volume, no one is ever going to know it's not your hair. From here, there are tons of other styles with which you can experiment!

I can just imagine that there are lots of other secrets for pulling off hair extensions. Having not yet worn them myself, there's no way I know all of them. If you have experience with extensions, do you have any tips or secrets?
