I have spent a lot of time looking for shampoos and conditioners for fine hair. What I have discovered is that there are a lot of products claiming to make full hair that don’t deliver. However, I have found several products that really are as good as they claim. These shampoos and conditioners for fine hair are products that I have used with great success and highly recommend all of them.

1. Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner
The Pure Abundance line by Aveda is one of my favorite volumizing product lines. The shampoo and conditioner make my hair really soft while also boosting the volume. I especially like the conditioner because it is thicker than most conditioners for fine hair, but it doesn’t weigh hair down. One of the biggest perks of the Aveda shampoo and conditioner is the smell. These hair products have the best scent of any of the shampoos and conditioners for fine hair. The Pure Abundance line is one I have returned to often, but I have used other products that have given my hair an equally full look.

2. Alterna Caviar Bodybuilding Volume Shampoo and Conditioner
Alterna’s Caviar Bodybuilding Volume Shampoo and Conditioner is another one of my favorite volumizing lines. The shampoo and conditioner both make my hair very full and bouncy. I love that they are both free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic color, sodium chloride, gluten, DEA/TEA, mineral oil, and petrolatum. Without all of these potentially hazardous ingredients, the shampoo and conditioner are safe for most people with sensitivities or allergies. It is a more expensive line, so I don’t use it very often. However, if the shampoo and conditioner are in your price point I can highly recommend them.

3. Unite Volume Shampoo and Conditioner
When my hairstylist used the Unite Volume Shampoo and Conditioner on my hair several years ago, I liked the results so much that I purchased it right away. Both of these products deliver thicker looking hair, without sulfates, parabens, gluten, sodium chloride, DEA, and MEA. They are also vegan if that is important to you. One thing you might really like about this shampoo and conditioner is the slight coconut scent. It makes you feel like you are on summer vacation every time you use them. Also, both products last a long time, which means you get more for your money.

4. John Frieda Root Awakening Purify and Nourish
The John Frieda Root Awakening shampoo and conditioner are both very affordable and are one of the best lower cost options for volumizing products. They are actually cleansing products, which means they remove any build up on your scalp. Cleansing shampoos and conditioners are great for adding body to fine hair. When you have a squeaky clean scalp, your hair is more bouncy from root to tip.

5. Rene Furterer Volumea Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner
The volumizing shampoo and conditioner by Rene Furterer are such good products that they were the 2011 winners of InSyle Magazine’s Best Beauty Buy for Fine Hair. To build volume, they both contain carob extract that adheres to hair strands creating fuller hair. I have not actually used either of these products, but I have heard very good things about them. I have had friends recommend them and obviously InStyle thinks they deliver volume, and their beauty guide is generally spot on.

6. Dove Damage Therapy Volume Boost Shampoo and Conditioner
This is another budget friendly volume line. I have only used it a few times, but have been happy with the results when I have purchased the volume boost shampoo and conditioner. Dove claims that the shampoo and conditioner repair damage. I can’t honestly say if the products repaired any damage, however, I can tell you that they do add volume to fine hair. The volume added is not as dramatic as some other products, but it was enough that it made a difference. My hair certainly did not look flat and limp. It had a small bounce that I appreciated, and I appreciated it even more given the affordable price.

7. Bumble and Bumble Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner
The Bumble and Bumble Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner are products I have only occasionally used. Yet, I really like how full my hair is after I use them. They really do thicken hair. The key ingredients are aloe juice, Vitamin B5, and glycerin, which all help improve the health and appearance of your hair.

I love most everything about my hair, including the strawberry blonde color. However, I always want to have thicker hair. Since my fine hair isn’t going to magically become thick, I have found several volumizing lines that I really like. If you are a member of the fine hair club, all of these shampoos and conditioners are great and worth trying. What are your favorite volumizing products?
