Follow Your Shampoo with Conditioner

Hair experts say that using conditioner provides a barrier to each strand of your hair, helping keep it from getting totally saturated with water when you’re in the shower. If you minimize the amount of water your hair soaks up in the shower, it will naturally air dry faster. Easy enough, right?

Squeeze Excess Water from Your Hair before You Towel Dry

Wrapping your hair in a towel will remove a certain amount of water, but if your hair is totally dripping, the towel will just get sopping wet and then won’t be able to absorb any more water. Before towel drying your locks, squeeze all the excess water from your hair, using your hands to gently remove as much water as you can.

Buy Yourself a Good Microfiber Towel for Drying Your Hair

Microfiber towels are more absorbent than your traditional terrycloth one, which means you can soak as much water out of your hair after a shower as possible. When this happens, you can easily air dry it must faster than if you use a regular towel. Try it – you’ll see just what I mean!

Make Sure the Roots Are Really Dry

When your hair is wet and dripping, the water moves downward to your tips. If you focus on the roots, you can keep things moving along by ensuring that your hair dries all over in a short amount of time. In general, the ends of your hair tend to dry first, so if you focus on your roots, you can speed things up with ease.

Use a Wide Toothed Comb to Detangle Your Hair

Separating your strands allows more air to move through your strands so they dry much more quickly. Use a wide toothed comb to prevent frizz and damage when you move it through your mane. If you have curly hair, you might get better results by combing your hair with your fingers, which will produce the same effect.

Try Shaking Your to Speed Drying

Hair experts say that shaking your hair can really help it dry faster. Flip your head over and gently shake your hair. This will help remove excess water from your locks, which will make drying happen much more frequently. Be gentle when you do this so that you don’t damage your hair.

Go out and Soak up the Sun

If you have the time and it’s a sunny day, go outside with a book or magazine and let the sunshine dry your hair. Make sure you wear sunscreen to protect your skin from sun damage. Not only will the sunshine dry your hair pretty quickly, but it will also leave it with a fresh scent that can’t be beat.

Do you tend to blow dry or air dry your hair? Will you try any of these techniques to make things healthier for your hair, but faster at the same time?
