Hair thinning can be one of the worst realizations that you’re getting older, just behind finding a gray hair. My favorite part about these tips is that they’re not that difficult or crazy—in fact you probably do a lot of these tips daily already, and if you don’t they’re easy to add to your everyday routine!
1. Avoid Hair Bands
I love to throw my hair up as much as the next girl, but I hate the feeling of pulling out my hair tie and feeling nearly half of the hair on my head falling out. If you’re the same way, avoid putting your hair up. Hair ties will only cause breakage and will eventually start to make your hair thin out, faster than you may think.
2. Stop Putting Your Hair up
A lot of women these days have found new alternatives to hair ties, however, even putting your hair up can be pretty terrible for your hair, no matter the type of hair tie you use. Pulling your hair back tightly will cause just as much hair loss as tying it up tightly, so just avoid it altogether.
3. Condition, Condition, Condition
Most women can’t imagine even going a day without conditioning, and that’s the way that it should be. If you notice that your hair’s not exactly in the best shape that it once was, start conditioning more thoroughly. It’s essential to keeping your hair healthy and avoiding hair loss.
4. Avoid Too Much Product
Although you may think you need it, hair products will be the death of your hair. In the long run, would you rather your hair be a little less cooperative or would you rather that you start going bald? The fewer products you put in your hair, the healthier your hair will be, and your hair will show the difference!
5. Use Less Heat
If you can, avoid using heat whenever possible. The more heat you apply to your hair, the more damage you’ll see, which will eventually lead to thinner hair. Skip the blow dryer or flat iron a couple of days a week to give your hair a little bit of time to rejuvenate and heal itself.
6. Use a Mask or Intensive Treatment
Conditioner isn’t enough to save your hair. Make sure to spend at least one day a week giving your hair some extra TLC with a mask or conditioning treatment that is sure to revitalize your hair and make it look brand new. It will help slow down hair loss and you’ll be back to healthy hair in no time!
7. Wash with anti-Dandruff Shampoo
If you’re still having issues, try twitching to anti-dandruff shampoo, even if you don’t have dandruff. It has an active ingredient in it that is said to stimulate the hair follicles and encourage hair growth. If you’re experiencing pretty bad hair loss, try this tip next time.
