7 Great Ways to Wear Layered Hair ...

I am totally loving layered hair at the moment. Layers are a great way to change your hairstyle without going too extreme, and they add movement and texture to your ‘do…I just love that swingy, touchable style that layers give. They are also super easy to look after, which makes them perfect for this hotter weather! If you’re looking for ways to wear layered hair, here’s some of my favorites…

1 Sleek and Sexy…

Selena Gomez totally rocks long, sleek layers. I love how the shorter layers frame her face, and the longer layers draw your eyes to her clothes. Show off your new style by teaming it with a statement necklace, or a dramatic neckline like Selena’s metal-topped mini. Even tied back, I love this layered hair look.

Frequently asked questions

2 Classic Crops…

Jen might not have been the first person to rock layers, but she certainly helped them to hit the big time. Hairdressers everywhere reported record numbers of people opting for a layered look after Rachel became a cult figure, and for a while, the look was the only hairstyle to have. Then it died out completely, and now it’s back, and chicer than ever. For locks just like Jen’s, opt for some sun-kissed highlights through your hair, too.

3 Short and Stylish…

Michelle does short layers beautifully! I love everything from her ice blonde tone to the gorgeous side swept fringe, and being short, it’s super easy to maintain. If you are planning an excursion or holiday somewhere hot this year, a look like this could keep you cool and stop you requiring so many hair products. Easy and stylish? Yes please!

4 It’s All in the Eyes…

I’m loving Isla Fisher’s center-parted hair. Not only do the layers frame her face and add texture and natural movement, but her wispy fringe attracts your attention to her eyes. It’s perfect for those of us who love our eyes the most! This striking ginger-y shade is set to be huge this summer, too.

5 Casual Cool…

Jessica Alba’s casual layers were the inspiration for mine – I love how easy and simple she makes them look! The trick is to have your hair layered in sections, making it super easy to plait out of the way, or to side-sweep over your head for a bedhead style like Jess has here. Then just add minimal make-up, a biker jacket and some go-get-‘em attitude, and you’ll be ready for anything.

6 Ride the Waves…

As someone with almost perfectly straight hair, I’m super jealous of people with gorgeous curls – and especially Alessandra Ambrosio, with her iconic Victoria’s Secret waves. Her secret? Having layers cut in just below the wave, to maximize its bounciness and movement. If you don’t have a natural curl, try having several lengths of long layers cut in, and curling the layers around a hot iron for a few minutes. Dreamy.

7 Come to the Dark Side…

For some reason, layers are often rocked by women with light hair. I have no idea why! Jennifer Lawrence breaks the mold here with her new black locks, and I love the contrast of such a dark color with shiny hair and plenty of layers! Having layers cut in is a great way to own an overpowering hair color, so if you’ve always fancied going darker, steal Jen’s style now. It’s a really modern, fresh take on layered hair!

With even Rihanna and Kristen Stewart rocking messy layers right now, along with a whole host of other great celebs, it seems layered hair is going nowhere. I love how easy it is to accessorize, too: just check out Ri-Ri’s tiara look. Are you tempted to add some layers to your locks? Let me know!
